The coalition of PSD/CDS secured victory with 2,261 votes in Boticas during the election night concluding on Sunday, contrasting with the socialists’ 544 votes, representing a swing of 47.52 percentage points.
AD emerged as the leading political force across all municipalities of Vila Real, an electoral circle led by Ana Paula Martins, the Minister of Health. The Socialist Party (PS) witnessed their lowest results in this district since 1999.
In addition to Ana Paula Martins, the PSD/CDS coalition elected two more deputies, Amílcar Almeida and Fernando Queiroga. Fernando Queiroga, the mayor of Boticas, has announced his intention to pause his current municipal role to join the Assembly of the Republic. Guilherme Pires, his deputy, will succeed him in the municipal office.
The AD coalition secured 89 seats in Sunday’s legislative elections. Meanwhile, PS and Chega each garnered 58 parliamentary seats.
Iniciativa Liberal remains the fourth political force, gaining an additional seat for a total of nine, compared to 2024. Livre, ranked fifth, increased its presence from four to six seats.
CDU lost one seat, leaving them with three parliamentary members, while Bloco de Esquerda has been reduced to one representative, mirroring PAN’s single-seat outcome.
The JPP from Madeira succeeded in electing one deputy.
These figures do not yet account for the votes of residents living abroad, whose participation and choices will be disclosed by May 28.
