According to forecasts from the Portuguese Society of Allergology and Clinical Immunology (SPAIC), pollen concentrations in the air will be high across all districts of mainland Portugal from Friday until July 12. The elevated levels will particularly affect pollen from olive, pine, birch, cork oak, and oak trees, as well as grasses, plantain, sorrel, nettle, and Urticaceae family plants, including parietaria.
In the Lisbon district, the highest pollen concentrations are expected in the capital and Setúbal municipality, affecting the same trees and herbs.
In Évora, located in the Alentejo region, pollen concentrations will also be high, especially from olive, pine, and cork oak trees, while grasses, sorrel, plantain, chenopodium, nettle, and Urticaceae, including parietaria, remain prevalent.
In the Autonomous Region of Madeira, forecasts indicate low pollen concentrations, particularly from cypress, pine, and eucalyptus trees, as well as grasses, plantain, chenopodium, nettle, and Urticaceae, including parietaria.
In the Azores Autonomous Region, particularly in Ponta Delgada, pollen concentrations will be low but will feature pollen from cypress (or cryptomeria) and pine trees, alongside grasses, plantain, nettle, and Urticaceae, including parietaria.
