Going to the supermarket is more expensive and the price of this food has skyrocketed by 25%.

The price of the food basket containing 63 essential goods, monitored by DECO PROteste, stands at 239.35 euros this week, an increase of 8 cents (0.03%) from May 28 and 3.18 euros (1.35%) more than the first week of 2025, the organization revealed.

Experts note that a year ago, purchasing the same products cost consumers 4.29 euros less (1.82% decrease).

However, when compared to January 5, 2022, when DECO PROteste started this analysis, the expense was 51.65 euros less (27.52% decrease).

Which products increased the most?

Between May 28 and June 4, the largest percentage price increases were observed in products such as onions (25% increase), fiber cereals (17%), and extra virgin olive oil (12%). It’s noteworthy that the olive oil rose by 77 cents and now costs more than 7 euros (7.34 euros), following nine consecutive weeks below this price.

The top 10 products with the highest increases also include curly lettuce (10%), spaghetti (10%), frozen peas (7%), sliced Flemish cheese (7%), fish fingers (6%), and fresh hake (6%).

The basket includes meat, frozen foods, fruits and vegetables, dairy, grocery items, and fish, considering products such as turkey, chicken, horse mackerel, hake, onion, potato, carrot, banana, apple, orange, rice, spaghetti, sugar, ham, milk, cheese, butter.
