Henrique Gouveia e Melo, a presidential candidate, declared on Friday that “all candidates” are on his “level,” welcoming the candidacy of António José Seguro.
“All the candidates are on my level. We cannot disregard anyone running for the Presidency. They have as much right as I do to be a candidate,” he stated to journalists in Porto when questioned about the candidacy of the former PS secretary-general and the withdrawal of liberal Mariana Leitão.
For Gouveia e Melo, António José Seguro’s candidacy “is welcome, representing a very well-defined political area.” “I am very happy that this political area is also starting to define itself,” he noted.
