The Government has submitted the Government Program (PE) to the Assembly of the Republic, with one of the measures included being the creation of the Work Incentive Allowance, “allowing the accumulation of work income with social supports.”
The Government explains that the objective is for this allowance to “encourage active participation in the labor market.”
“It would replace a wide range of social support, without losses for anyone, with a remunerative supplement, accumulable with work income, RSI, social pension, or other social supports aimed at extreme social situations, mitigating the impoverishment of employed workers and encouraging their active participation in the labor market, and considering the size and composition of the household,” the PE states.
The creation of this allowance, it is emphasized, arises “within the scope of a redesign of the social support system to ensure that there is no loss of disposable income when there is an increase in work income.”
Other developments
The Executive also aims to “ensure that access to social support does not amplify call effects.”
Therefore, it foresees “the strengthening of the monitoring of beneficiaries of non-contributory benefits, ensuring the fulfillment of commitments made and a swift entry into the labor market.”
