Beja, Bragança, Castelo Branco, Évora, Guarda, Portalegre, and Vila Real are under a yellow weather warning from the Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), effective from 18:54 today until 18:00 on Friday, due to “persistent high maximum temperatures.”
In Bragança, Guarda, and Vila Real, an additional warning has been issued for “favorable conditions for showers and thunderstorms, potentially with hail and accompanied by convective wind gusts.”
The yellow warning, the least severe on a three-level scale, is issued when there is a risk to certain activities affected by weather conditions.
For Friday, IPMA forecasts maximum temperatures in mainland Portugal at 39 degrees in Beja, 37 in Évora and Castelo Branco, 36 in Bragança and Portalegre, and 35 in Évora and Vila Real.
