A martial arts instructor has been arrested in Porto on suspicion of sexually abusing an 11-year-old girl, announced the Polícia Judiciária (PJ) in a statement released Wednesday.
Investigators disclosed that the crime dates back to the beginning of this year. The 55-year-old suspect, who works at a studio with several minor students in various learning classes, allegedly exploited his role as an instructor and the influence he held to subject the minor to “abusive sexual practices, under the pretense of them being part of the martial arts training plan.”
The child felt her privacy was invaded and reported the incident to her parents, who filed a complaint with the authorities, leading to an investigation.
The suspect, who has no prior criminal record, has been detained and will now be presented in court for the application of appropriate preventive measures.
