At least 14 flights were canceled today at Madeira International Airport, affecting both arrivals and departures, with three diverted to other airports due to strong winds in the eastern part of the island, disrupting operations since Monday.
The ANA – Aeroportos de Portugal website indicates that several flights have been impacted and advises passengers to check the flight status before heading to the airport located in the municipality of Santa Cruz.
ANA emphasizes that “adverse weather conditions may affect operations (departures and arrivals).”
On Monday, the Funchal Harbor Master’s Office issued bad weather and strong wind warnings for the maritime area of the Madeira archipelago, based on information from the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA).
The warnings remain in effect until 6:00 AM on Wednesday.
