A 31-year-old man has been arrested by the Polícia Judiciária (PJ) on strong suspicion of aggravated sexual abuse crimes against a child, who is currently 13 years old and is his stepdaughter.
The PJ stated in a press release that these incidents allegedly took place between June 2024 and January 2025 within the family’s residence in Sintra, when the girl was still 12 years old.
The victim reported the incidents to a friend of the same age in May 2025. The friend informed the girl’s mother, who then filed a complaint with the PSP.
The PJ noted that investigative actions led to the arrest of the suspect under a warrant issued by the appropriate judicial authority.
The detained individual, who has already appeared in court for an initial judicial hearing, has been placed in pre-trial detention.
