The National Republican Guard (GNR) announced that a 31-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday and brought before the Matosinhos Criminal Investigation Court on Thursday, where he was remanded in custody as the most severe coercive measure.
The GNR highlighted that the detainee, under the pretense of looking for properties to rent, approached elderly individuals and used physical force to snatch their gold chains and wallets before fleeing immediately.
These snatch thefts allegedly occurred in the municipalities of Vila do Conde and Póvoa de Varzim, the statement noted.
