
A small aircraft crashed on Saturday afternoon in the municipality of Benavente, Santarém district, resulting in a serious injury, confirmed by the Lezíria do Tejo Sub-regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command.
The seriously injured individual is the pilot and sole occupant of the aircraft, which was conducting agricultural work, specifically treating rice fields, at Herdade das Figueiras.
The injured pilot is being assessed on site by the Mobile Emergency Medical Service (VMER) team, and it is not yet known to which hospital they will be transferred.
The aircraft was owned by AVITRATA – Sociedade de Tratamentos Fitossanitários Aéreos, based in Benavente.
The alert for an “air accident” in Benavente was raised at 6:21 PM, prompting the mobilization of 24 responders supported by 10 vehicles.
On the scene, in addition to the VMER, are the Benavente Volunteer Firefighters, the Salvaterra de Magos Volunteer Firefighters, and the National Republican Guard (GNR).
