
A 25-year-old man was arrested for driving in the wrong direction on the A3 highway in Famalicão, with a blood alcohol level of 1.59 g/l, the GNR of Viana do Castelo announced today.
The Viana do Castelo Territorial Command of the GNR stated that on Thursday it received “an alert regarding a vehicle driving against traffic on the A3, in the Valença-Porto direction.”
In Famalicão, Braga district, the GNR managed “to locate and intercept the vehicle, which was traveling against traffic from Valença [Viana do Castelo district],” covering approximately 80 kilometers.
“Following police procedures, the driver was subjected to a breathalyzer test and registered a level considered a crime,” it added.
Contacted by Lusa, the GNR specified that the driver had 1.59 grams per liter of blood.
The man was arrested “for the crime of driving under the influence of alcohol and dangerous driving,” detailed the GNR in the statement.
