Car in reserve See what happens to fuel prices tomorrow

The upcoming week will bring mixed changes in fuel prices: while diesel is expected to remain stable, gasoline prices are predicted to drop.

The price of gasoline is anticipated to decrease by two cents, as reported on Friday.

“If predictions for the upcoming week are confirmed, the average price of regular diesel should remain at 1.571 euros per liter, while the price of regular 95-octane gasoline will fall to 1.669 euros per liter,” stated the ACP.

This prediction is based on Friday’s average fuel prices in Portugal, where diesel was priced at 1.571 euros per liter and gasoline at 1.689 euros per liter, according to the Directorate-General for Energy and Geology (DGEG).

The upcoming week is expected to see fuel price adjustments, with the predictions from the Automobile Club of Portugal (ACP) indicating a drop in gasoline prices by approximately two cents, while diesel prices are expected to remain stable.

The ACP highlights that the predictions released on Friday are based on the assumption that extraordinary fiscal measures implemented by the Government to mitigate price increases will continue.

“Current measures include a reduction in the ISP (equivalent to a VAT reduction of 23% and 13%), a compensation mechanism through which the ISP is reduced relative to additional VAT revenue, and the suspension of carbon tax update,” the ACP noted.

What happened last week?

Last week began with a decline in fuel prices, as predictions at the end of the previous week had indicated, according to updated average prices by the Directorate-General for Energy and Geology (DGEG).

Regular 95-octane gasoline dropped from 1.721 euros per liter to 1.694 euros per liter between Friday and Monday, a reduction of 2.7 cents.

Meanwhile, regular diesel decreased from 1.613 euros per liter to 1.577 euros per liter also between Friday and Monday, a decrease of 3.6 cents.

The DGEG’s daily average prices “are calculated based on prices reported by fuel stations, weighted by the quantities sold during the last known period, incorporating discounts such as fleet cards and others.” This information is based on data from 2,959 active fueling stations.

Amid significant price increases weeks ago, the Minister of the Presidency indicated that the Government is monitoring fuel price developments but believes that impacts are “largely potential,” without ruling out the possibility of taking measures if there are “simultaneously very significant and prolonged” increases.

António Leitão Amaro emphasized, however, that the Government is alert and monitoring price trends, assuring that “if there are simultaneously very significant and extended increases, the Government will naturally take measures for this purpose.”
