
“[…] Based on the data regarding the capture of bigeye tuna (‘Thunnus obesus’) in the Atlantic Ocean by the Portuguese fleet, it is reported that the utilization of this quota has reached 80%,” the statement read.
Given this situation, the Directorate-General for Natural Resources, Safety and Maritime Services (DGRM) warned that it might be necessary to close this quota “very soon.”
The DGRM is a central service of the state’s direct administration, with administrative autonomy, aimed at the development of safety and maritime services, implementation of fisheries policies, and conservation of resources.
