The PCP’s Loures municipal committee expressed its sorrow over the passing of its member Orlanda Rodrigues, who was also the wife of António Filipe, a deputy and presidential candidate supported by the communists.

In a statement released on Saturday, July 5, the PCP’s Loures committee expressed “deep sorrow” for the loss of a “communist militant, a woman of deep convictions, a defender of the values of April,” who “dedicated her life to building a more just and fraternal society.”

Orlanda Rodrigues was an early childhood educator and worked at the Loures City Hall from 1994 to 2024, serving as a secretary in the President’s Support Office and being part of the animation team at the José Saramago Municipal Library in Loures.

The statement mentioned that she was also a leader at the Loures Municipality’s Cultural and Sports Center from 2002 to 2019, and held the position of president of the board from 2014 to 2019.

Moreover, she served as the president of the Loures Parish Council from 2017 to 2021 and was a member of both the PCP’s local cell secretariat in that municipality and the party’s Loures municipal committee.

“Deeply attached to humanist values, her personal and professional conduct in her roles earned her deep respect from all who had the privilege of working and associating with her,” the statement noted.

The Loures committee of the PCP emphasized that Orlanda Rodrigues “will always be remembered for the courage, tenacity, humility, friendship, and solidarity that guided her life” and extends “the deepest condolences” to her “companion, António Filipe, her children,” and “the rest of her family.”

The funeral took place this Tuesday in Cascais.
