
The world’s largest “afrobeats” festival returns for its fifth edition, featuring a lineup of over 30 artists performing across two stages on the sands of Praia da Rocha.
On the opening day, the main stage will host performances by Chris Brown, Davido, Tiakola Gabzy, Rionsia, and Qing Madi. Meanwhile, the second stage will feature Dbn Gogo, Mörda, Nkosazana Daughter, and KMAT.
The second day of Afro Nation highlights the debut of Mary J. Blige in Portugal, a major figure in ‘hip-hop soul’ and ‘R&B’ with a career spanning over 35 years.
Accompanying Mary J. Blige on the main stage are Tens, Franglish, Odeal, Amaarae, Naza, and June Freedom.
Performers on the second day on the second stage include Uncle Waffles, Lee McKrazy with Scotts Maphuma, Felo Le Tee, Shakes & Les, and The Therapist.
The festival concludes with Burna Boy – making his fourth appearance after attending in 2019, 2022, and 2023 – alongside Booba, Dexta Deps, Joé Dwèt Filé, and Innos’B on the main stage.
The secondary stage will feature Scorpion Kings, Young Stunna, Vigro Deep, Oskido, and Rosey Gold.
The inaugural edition in 2019 saw over 25,000 attendees, mostly from the United Kingdom. Last year, around 40,000 people attended.
The festival was not held in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.
Admission is for those aged 18 and over, with identification required for age verification, according to the festival’s website.
Tickets for Afro Nation are priced at 349 euros for a three-day pass and 137 euros for a single-day ticket.
