Benjamin Clementine opens CoolJazz festival in Cascais on Friday

The British musician Benjamin Clementine is set to open the CoolJazz festival on Friday in Cascais. This festival, taking place throughout the month, also features acts like Ezra Collective, Tindersticks, Slow J, Seal, Masego, and Gilsons, among others.

The Hipódromo Manuel Possolo and Parque Marechal Carmona are “all set” to host four concerts each night, spread across the Cascais Jazz Sessions by Smooth FM stage, the Ageas Stage, and the Late Nights. This was confirmed by the festival director, Karla Campos, in a statement.

The main stage will feature Benjamin Clementine and Rita Vian on opening night. The following day, July 12, Seal and Margarida Campelo will perform. On July 15, Ezra Collective and Jordan Rakei will take the stage, while July 17 will feature Gilsons and Jota.Pê. Performances continue with Slow J and Silly on July 23, Tindersticks and Ganso on July 26, and conclude with Masego and Amaura on July 31.

The Cascais Jazz Sessions stage will host seven Portuguese jazz projects: Plasticine (Friday), Beatriz Nunes (July 12), BERLIM (July 15), Isabel Rato Quinteto (July 17), BOKOR (July 23), Quarteto de Areia (July 26), and Razy (July 31).

The Late Nights segment includes performances by Mafalda Nunes (Friday), Groove Armanda (July 12), Luís Oliveira (July 15), Rita Lig (July 17), Allexia (July 23), Rui Maia (July 26), and Peter Castro (July 31).

Each of the festival’s seven nights will commence with the Cascais Jazz Sessions, followed by a main act, and conclude with the Late Nights entertainment.

The venue opens at 7:00 PM, offering a variety of dining and bar options.

Additionally, the Ageas CoolJazz festival presents free programming called Cascais Lazy Sundays, which has shifted location this year to the Jardim da Parada, increasing its capacity. This program will feature Ana Moreira (Sunday), Catarina Moreira & Friends (July 13), Leonor Caldeira & Manuel Cardoso (July 20), and Diogo Beja (July 27).

Ticket prices for CoolJazz 2025 are day-specific, ranging from 25 to 70 euros.
