The sequel to the film ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ is now in production, with several characters from the first film confirmed to return, including Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci.
British actor Kenneth Branagh will also join the cast, playing the husband of Miranda Priestly, the editor-in-chief of the magazine Runway, played by Meryl Streep.
The confirmation of the sequel to the iconic 2000s film was announced by Disney 20th Century Studios via a post on their Instagram, and it is set to hit theaters on May 1, 2026.
A short teaser was released, showing two red high-heeled shoes where the heels resemble the devil’s tridents.
In the teaser, phrases such as “Can you please spell Gabbana?” and “I refuse to be sick. I’m wearing Valentino, for crying out loud” can be heard, referencing some of the iconic lines from the first film.
Notably, the poster for the first film features only a single red shoe.

What is the story of ‘The Devil Wears Prada’?
The 2006 film, based on the novel by author Lauren Weisberger, follows aspiring journalist Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway) as she is hired by a fashion magazine in New York City to become the assistant to the formidable editor-in-chief.
No details have yet been revealed about the storyline of the sequel. However, it has been mentioned that in this new film, the plot will follow Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep) as she grapples with the decline of traditional magazine publishing. She will also face off with Emily Blunt’s character, a former assistant who now holds a high-level position in a luxury company.
The role of Anne Hathaway is still unclear in the plot, as her character left Runway magazine at the end of the first film to work for a newspaper.
‘The Devil Wears Prada’ will celebrate its 20th anniversary on October 26 next year.
