“The current situation in the Socialist Party (PS) does not spare anyone. No one is dispensable. As much as it pains us, sometimes, some voices, often not aligned with the decisions of the leadership or other comrades, as much as it pains us, it forms part of our democratic richness, and we must count on everyone to strengthen the PS in such a challenging time we are living in,” stated José Luís Carneiro at the opening of the PS National Commission meeting today in Lisbon.
The new leader of PS emphasized that “nobody is dispensable” and hence he relies “on all sensibilities, all generations, and all social classes.”
Regarding the composition of the PS National Secretariat presented today, which will be voted on at the meeting, Carneiro explained that he chose a list that “aimed to ensure, on one hand, openness, inclusion, and the ability to mobilize all desires to serve” the PS.
“The first objective is achieved of having a team that I propose to you which should be intergenerational and at the same time encompasses different political experiences,” he said.
