Firefighters are now conducting mop-up and consolidation operations around the perimeter of the fire, according to a source from the Central Alentejo Sub-Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command.
By 6:20 PM, the source stated, 124 personnel were involved in fighting the fire, supported by 36 vehicles and two aerial resources.
The fire, which was reported at 3:10 PM, broke out in an area of shrubland, pasture, and montado at Herdade Terra de Freira in the parish of São Cristóvão, Montemor-o-Novo municipality.
