The Judiciary Police (PJ) announced on Saturday the arrest, in collaboration with the National Republican Guard (GNR), of two men suspected of aggravated homicide that occurred in Mangualde yesterday.
In a statement sent to the media, the authority explained that “the incident originated from an argument between the suspects and the 59-year-old victim over a trivial matter.”
“Following the disagreement, the suspects brutally attacked the victim, delivering punches and kicks to various parts of the body, with a particular focus on the head, ultimately causing the victim’s death,” the statement read.
According to the PJ, medical assistance was activated, but upon arrival at the scene, “the victim was already in cardiorespiratory arrest and was declared dead.”
“During the investigation, it was possible to gather evidence that led to the arrest of the attackers,” the PJ indicated.
The detained individuals, aged 39 and 60, will be brought before a judicial authority for the application of appropriate preventive measures.
According to the local press, the man was found lifeless at home, and neighbors had heard an argument.
