A 21-year-old man died on Sunday morning after falling from a height of six to eight meters on a street parallel to the Sousa Pinto neighborhood in Coimbra.
The alert was raised at 08:41, confirmed by the Humanitarian Association of Volunteer Firefighters of Coimbra.
The same source stated that the young man suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest, and despite resuscitation efforts, his condition could not be reversed.
The Diário de Coimbra reported that the victim was Marcos Lisboa, a young man from Leiria who was in his fourth year of the Economics course at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Coimbra. Marcos, who was also a member of the Coral Quecofónico do Cifrão, was reportedly at a birthday party in a bar in the Couraça de Lisboa area, but his friends lost track of him.
The educational institution also expressed its condolences on Facebook, offering “deepest condolences” to his loved ones.
“It is with deep regret that the Faculty of Economics learns of the passing of its student Marcos Lisboa. A member of the Coral Quecofónico do Cifrão, Marcos actively participated in Faculty life, whether by supporting as FEUC staff at events or organizing the Economics Olympics. His warm and open smile will be greatly missed. To his family, friends, and colleagues, FEUC extends its deepest condolences. Saudades,” it read.
In addition to the firefighters, the scene was attended by members of the Public Security Police (PSP), the VMER, and psychologists.
