
The chief of the Peso da Régua firefighters, Rui Lopes, reported that by the time responders arrived, the flames had already engulfed the residence. They managed to control the fire and safeguard the adjoining homes.
The residence was left uninhabitable. The situation of those displaced, aged between 50 and 55, is being assessed by Social Security services and Municipal Civil Protection.
The alert was issued at 4:30 am, with eight firefighters and three vehicles dispatched to the scene.
