According to provisional data, by 2:00 PM today, the strike by public prosecutors in the districts of Guarda and Castelo Branco reached 100% participation.
In the district of Viseu, the strike saw 98% adherence, while in Coimbra, it reached 90%, “with 100% in the central criminal court and various general jurisdiction courts.”
In the district of Leiria, participation was recorded at 80%, “with 100% in Peniche and Nazaré and in various branches.”
The five districts under the jurisdiction of the General Prosecutor’s Office of Coimbra are Coimbra, Viseu, Guarda, Castelo Branco, and Leiria.
The Public Prosecutors’ Union (SMMP) called for a national strike on July 9 and 10, followed by regional strikes on July 11, 14, and 15, in protest against the annual movement of prosecutors.
The issue arises from a notice published on June 4 in the Diário da República, detailing the positions to be filled by prosecutors starting in September across various departments and courts simultaneously.
