
Five of the 15 companies included in the PSI ended in positive territory, while the remaining ten were in negative territory.
The benchmark national index closed unchanged at 7,707.37 points.
Leading the gains on the national reference index was the construction company Mota-Engil, with its shares rising 2.64% to 4.28 euros.
Positive notes also came from the EDP group, with subsidiary EDP Renováveis advancing 0.79% to 10.26 euros and the parent company gaining 0.74% to 3.83 euros, as well as Jerónimo Martins, which increased 0.63% to 22.52 euros.
Meanwhile, paper company Semapa gained 0.69% to 17.42 euros.
Counteracting and preventing gains in the PSI were the CTT, whose shares fell 1.41% to 7.69 euros, and Corticeira Amorim, which lost 1.75% to 7.86 euros.
Among the losses, heavyweight PSI companies Galp Energia dropped 0.98% to 16.13 euros per share, while BCP depreciated 0.33% to 66 cents per share.
Across European markets, the day was negative, with Spain’s IBEX-35 falling 1.15%, the UK’s FTSE 100 down 0.66%, France’s CAC-40 losing 0.54%, and Germany’s DAX decreasing 0.42%.
This performance comes at a time when the European Union and the US remain open to dialogue to avoid Washington imposing 30% tariffs on imports from Europe.
Meanwhile, Brussels continues to work on potential retaliation against the US if an agreement is not reached by August, after US President Donald Trump also threatened Russia with 100% tariffs if no agreement on the war with Ukraine is reached within the next 50 days.
