They were growing cannabis at home and planned to sell it at Boom Festival 2025.

A Polícia Judiciária deteve dois homens suspeitos de tráfico de droga

Two men have been arrested by the Polícia Judiciária on suspicion of drug trafficking. The investigation suggests they were planning to sell drugs at the Boom Festival, which commences this Friday in Idanha-a-Nova, Castelo Branco district.

Operation ‘Magic Farms’ included four residential and eight non-residential searches, resulting in the seizure of 12 types of drugs. These included cocaine, ketamine, hundreds of ecstasy pills, cannabis leaves, hallucinogenic mushrooms, and roughly 600 LSD tabs.

A statement from the PJ indicates that a cannabis plantation was discovered on the suspects’ property, located in a remote area in the municipality of Oliveira do Hospital, Coimbra.

Additionally, the two men were cultivating cacti from which they extracted significant quantities of a substance known as mescaline, with effects similar to LSD. The prepared substance was sold in the form of dried leaves and powder or as candies.

The PJ has strong evidence indicating the suspects are part of an international organized crime group with a history of solely cultivating, preparing, and selling narcotics. The group’s next target was allegedly the festival in Idanha-a-Nova.

The detainees, aged 29 and 39, will face a preliminary judicial hearing to determine coercive measures. They are strongly suspected of repeated drug trafficking offenses.
