
Two sisters, aged 75 and 77, were fatally injured in a car accident caused by a mechanical failure on Saturday in Calheta, located in the western region of Madeira Island.
According to the PSP, the 21 injuries reported over the last week were all minor.
Out of 62 accidents, 27 occurred in Funchal, the most populated municipality in the region, ten in Santa Cruz in the east, and five in São Vicente on the northern coast.
The types of accidents recorded included 44 collisions, 13 run-offs, and four pedestrian accidents.
Between July 11 and Thursday, the PSP conducted several enforcement operations, resulting in the arrest of seven individuals: five for driving under the influence of alcohol, one for driving without a license, and one for disobedience and refusal to take an alcohol test.
