
Summer also marks the time for a new analysis by DECO PROTeste, focusing on 12 food products commonly used during this season.
This week, the summer food basket costs 52.83 euros, reaching the highest value since 2022, similar to the 63-item food basket.
In the latest analysis, the product that saw the highest increase was Frankfurt sausages. Between July 9 and July 16, the price rose by 0.31 euros (18.19%). If on July 9 the cost per kilogram was 1.68 euros, by Wednesday, July 16, it was priced at 1.99 euros.
Following closely, extra virgin olive oil showed a price change of 16.16%. Last week, it was 6.69 euros and this week it’s 7.77 euros (a difference of 1.08 euros).
Completing this podium is onion, which a week ago, on July 9, was priced at 1.31 euros. By July 16, it had risen to 1.48 euros, marking a change of 16.16%.
Overall, according to data from DECO PROTeste, there is a 2.61 euros difference between July 9 and July 16, when comparing the same basket on these two days.
The ‘extra’ analysis also notes a difference of 7.53 euros between July 19, 2023, and July 16, 2025.
This analysis includes 12 products commonly used during summer: pork steaks, whole chicken, sea bass, gilt-head bream, horse mackerel, extra virgin olive oil, Frankfurt sausages, ground roasted coffee, curly leaf lettuce, chucha tomatoes, onion, and red potatoes.
