A 23-year-old was arrested by the National Republican Guard (GNR) on Thursday in Chaves on suspicion of drug trafficking. Another young man of the same age was identified for possessing pyrotechnic devices.
In a statement, the GNR explained that during a patrol, they noticed “two individuals walking” and upon realizing the presence of authorities, “exhibited suspicious behavior,” prompting their approach.
“Security searches were conducted on the suspects, during which it was discovered that one individual was in possession of narcotics, leading to his arrest,” the GNR stated.
During the search of the second suspect, “it was found he possessed pyrotechnic devices, leading to a citation for a regulatory offense.”
Seized items included 13 doses of hashish, a metal grinder for cannabis, a mobile phone, and two pyrotechnic firecrackers.
The detainee was made an official suspect, and the facts were reported to the Judicial Court of Chaves.
