The fire, which was reported as under control on Thursday morning in Sabrosa, according to José Barros, began to yield to the measures in place despite the wind maintaining a moderate intensity with irregular directions and a temperature of 27 degrees Celsius.
The commander also confirmed that the fire continues to have only one front, being fought by 117 personnel, supported by 29 vehicles and seven aerial resources.
In a statement to Lusa at 16:55, José Barros disclosed that there were no injuries or houses at risk, and the fire continued in an area of brush and agricultural land that is difficult to access.
The blaze broke out at 13:30 on Wednesday, near the road and a pine area of Feitais, before moving to Souto Maior, where it posed a risk to houses.
On Thursday night, the Douro sub-regional commander stated that the personnel mobilized for the fire in Sabrosa managed to respond to the flare-ups that occurred during the day, fueled by the wind.
In a summary conducted at 20:00, Miguel Fonseca told Lusa that the entire perimeter was under control and the fire was “practically in mop-up”.
