
The gynecology and obstetrics emergency services at Garcia de Orta, Vila Franca de Xira (Lisbon), Santo André (Leiria), and Infante Dom Pedro (Aveiro) hospitals are scheduled to close today.
Vila Franca de Xira hospital will also experience the closure of its pediatric emergency service, which will occur again on Sunday.
On Friday, four gynecology and obstetrics emergency departments were closed at Aveiro, Santarém, Barreiro, and Almada, the latter two being in the Setúbal district.
The gynecology and obstetrics emergency service of São Francisco Xavier Hospital (Lisbon) is designated from midnight today until midnight, as well as those of Braga Hospital and São Bernardo Hospital (Setúbal), from midnight to 9 a.m.
Pediatric emergencies at Amadora-Sintra hospitals, from midnight to 8 a.m. and from 8 p.m. to midnight, and Beatriz Ângelo (Loures), from midnight to midnight, are also designated.
The designated emergencies refer to cases directed by the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM) or the SNS 24 line.
Health authorities urge the public to contact the SNS24 line (808 24 24 24) for proper guidance before heading to an emergency department.
