The SIRESP, the emergency communication network for the Center for Guidance of Urgent Patients (CODU) of the North, has been out of service since 6:40 PM due to a computer issue, a source from the emergency technicians union confirmed.
This malfunction, according to a representative from the Union of Pre-Hospital Emergency Technicians (STEPH), involves a computer problem related to the consoles at CODU North.
The source further stated that there is still no radio redundancy, which means there could be “constraints in places where there is no mobile network coverage.”
The Integrated System of Emergency and Security Networks of Portugal (SIRESP) has been surrounded by controversy since its creation, undergoing significant changes following the failures during the firefighting efforts in the central region in 2017.
