The CriaJazz Festival, organized by O Nariz Teatro, brings the best of contemporary jazz to Leiria, offering new sounds and a diverse musical experience for the audience, as highlighted by the organizers.
This year’s festival kicks off on July 27 at 7:00 PM with a performance by the Murat Project, featuring Italian Mario Loi and Spanish Mario Pousada.
These two multi-instrumentalists will present original compositions and works by other artists, blending Mediterranean and ethnic roots with modern music and jazz.
In Leiria, the Murat Project will integrate instruments such as the Greek bouzouki, Middle Eastern oud, Central Asian saz, flamenco guitar, and the Italian mandola.
The festival continues on August 3 with a performance by the Murraças/Vieira Quarteto, combining rock, funk, and jazz through original compositions created by guitarist Zé Vieira and saxophonist André Murraças.
André Júlio Turquesa will also perform at the Leiria Castle on August 10. Closing the CriaJazz Festival, the singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist will present his new album ‘Disco de reclamações’.
According to O Nariz Teatro, “each of these events is a unique celebration of life, arts, and cultural richness,” as the festival aims to “reinforce the group’s commitment to the community and artistic innovation.”
The festival is part of the celebrations marking 30 years of O Nariz Teatro.
