
The Polícia Judiciária (PJ) arrested three additional individuals on Saturday for alleged drug trafficking offenses at the Boom Festival in Idanha-a-Nova, Castelo Branco.
A statement released on Sunday revealed that the suspects, who are foreign nationals aged 32, 39, and 52, were caught in the act. They are now awaiting their first judicial hearing to determine appropriate coercive measures.
According to the PJ, the suspects were detained while allegedly “selling narcotics to festival participants.”
The PJ’s statement detailed the seizure of 34 MDMA tablets, 43 grams of MDMA powder, 30 microdots of LSD, 200 micrograms of liquid LSD, 2,000 hallucinogenic mushrooms, and €11,000 believed to be proceeds from sales.
The police operation was led by the Criminal Investigation Department of the Guarda in close collaboration with the National Unit for Combating Drug Trafficking, the Central Directorate, and the Scientific Police Laboratory.
Investigations are being overseen by the DIAP of Castelo Branco.
This was not the first arrest
On Saturday, the PJ announced the arrest of four individuals, two men and two women, who were apprehended in the act of attempting to sell drugs at the festival in Idanha-a-Nova. Similar to the recent arrests, these individuals are also foreign nationals.
The PJ disclosed that these detainees are 37, 36, 28, and 23 years old. In addition to narcotics, officials seized “more than €10,000 from sales” at the time.
