The arrest took place on Wednesday, July 16, carried out by officers from the GNR territorial post in Sabugal, located in the Guarda district, following a report of domestic violence.
“The officers proceeded to the scene, where they determined that the suspect threatened the victims, his 29-year-old partner, an 11-month-old daughter, and a 65-year-old mother-in-law, forcibly entering their residence, leading to the arrest,” stated the Guarda Territorial Command of the GNR in a statement sent to the Lusa agency today.
Presented before the Judicial Court of Guarda, the detainee was subjected to coercive measures, forbidding him from approaching the victim, her residence, and workplace within a two-kilometer radius, monitored through an electronic bracelet.
The man is also required to undergo alcohol treatment, added the GNR.
“Domestic violence is a public crime, and reporting it is a collective responsibility,” the GNR reminds.
