At the conclusion of a National Council meeting of CDS-PP, which approved around one hundred municipal coalitions, including that of the capital, Nuno Melo was asked whether the party would lose some influence in the coalition with PSD due to IL’s inclusion.
“What I hope is that IL grows, what I hope is that CDS grows, what I hope is that PSD grows, and the three together are able to demonstrate, through this coalition, that they can achieve a very important victory, which, if all goes well, will also show why the PS, along with the entire far left, does not deserve it,” he stated to journalists.
Without going into specifics about the relative weight of each party in the Lisbon municipal agreement, the Christian Democrat leader assured that “CDS will maintain a representation consistent with its history, with the value of its members, with the history of the last four years.”
“I believe there will be gains, I believe there will be gains across the board. When a coalition is formed, it must be good for all parties,” he said.
