A fire erupted today at a wood pellet factory in Cercal do Alentejo, located in the municipality of Santiago do Cacém in the Setúbal district, spreading to the surrounding area and causing a rural fire, according to the Civil Protection authorities.
The Alentejo Litoral Sub-Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command reported that the blaze at the industrial unit remained active as of 7:30 PM, with the alert raised at 5:38 PM.
At the same time, the rural area fire also remained active, it was further noted.
Efforts to combat the flames involved 64 operatives, supported by 24 vehicles.
