A 33-year-old man was arrested by the Coastal and Border Control Unit (UCCF) through the Vilar Formoso Border Guard Post on July 18 in Vilar Formoso for illegal residence in national territory.
In a statement accessed by Notícias ao Minuto, the National Republican Guard (GNR) explained that during an inspection operation at the Police and Customs Cooperation Center of Vilar Formoso in Spain, aimed at controlling the entry and residence of foreign citizens in national territory, Guard soldiers detected, while inspecting other vehicles at the location, two foreign citizens attempting to flee on foot.
During the operation, the individuals in flight were located in the area of Vilar Formoso, resulting in the arrest of one individual. It was determined that the individual did not comply with the voluntary departure notification from the country within the established deadline.
This was verified through a database consultation, with the support of the Agency for Integration, Migration, and Asylum (AIMA).
The facts were reported to the Judicial Court of Guarda.
