The data available on the website of Portugal’s National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection (ANEPC) at 11:45 a.m. showed 140 personnel still engaged in operations, supported by 43 vehicles and five aircraft.
The fire, which began on the Spanish side of the border, spread to Vilar de Perdizes around 4:20 p.m. on Wednesday.
A source from the Alto Tâmega and Barroso Sub-regional Command stated that the high number of resources deployed was due to “several hot spots,” strong winds, and high temperatures in the area.
