
Two wildfires in scrubland areas, one in Santiago de Piães, Cinfães municipality, and another in Arcos de Valdevez, Viana do Castelo district, are awaiting the arrival of aerial resources, according to Civil Protection sources today.
Around 8:00 AM, a source from the Sub-regional Command of Tâmega and Sousa indicated that the fire, which broke out on Thursday in Cinfães, Viseu district, “continues to burn, but is not affecting sensitive areas.”
“Aerial resources are expected. There is no risk to housing,” stated the same source.
The incident was recorded by the Sub-regional Command of Tâmega and Sousa at 5:40 PM on Thursday.
Firefighter brigades from various corporations, mostly from Tâmega and Sousa, are on the ground.
According to the National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection website, 113 personnel, supported by 33 vehicles, are involved in battling the fire.
In Arcos de Valdevez, a fire in Gração also poses no threat to homes and “remains active” since 4:45 AM.
A source from the Sub-regional Command of Alto Minho indicated that aerial resources have been requested.
According to the National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection website, 56 operatives, supported by 16 vehicles, are engaged in combating this fire.
