In a statement, TNSJ announced that Victor Hugo Pontes has been selected as the artistic director for the theater for the 2025/2028 term.
The international competition received a total of 17 applications, with five proposals advancing to the final interview stage.
The jury’s decision was unanimous, based on the recognition that Victor Hugo Pontes “is an artist with a consistent and vibrant career, acknowledged both nationally and internationally.”
“An artist who views the stage as a living space for formal experimentation, critical reflection, and social responsibility,” noted the press release sent to the Lusa agency.
