More than 200 firefighters and 9 aerial means fight fire in Bragança

The fire is raging in a bushland area in the Union of Parishes of Aveleda and Rio de Onor, within the Montenzinho Natural Park, a protected area covering the municipalities of Bragança and Vinhais. This territory is rich in birdlife and biodiversity, spanning over 74,224 hectares.

João Noel Afonso, the sub-regional commander for Terras de Trás-os-Montes, stated at 4:40 PM that the fire is currently being subdued by firefighting efforts, which have been reinforced throughout the afternoon.

The fire broke out at 12:07 PM in a bushland area in the locality of Aveleda.

As of 4:55 PM, according to the National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection, 204 firefighters were on-site battling the fire, supported by nine aerial units and 67 vehicles.
