According to SATA Azores Airlines, the bomb threat that caused the diversion of flight S4 504, traveling from Ponta Delgada to Bilbao, Spain, this morning, “was not validated by the competent authorities after a thorough inspection of the aircraft and baggage.”
The company announced that “after the completion of the proceedings by the competent authorities,” the aircraft has been authorized to resume operations.
“The airline has rescheduled the Lisbon-Bilbao flight for tonight, with takeoff scheduled for 20:00, carrying 111 passengers onboard. The two passengers detained in connection with this incident will not be traveling,” the statement read.
Contacted for comment, a source from the Polícia Judiciária (PJ) stated that one person is detained for allegedly causing the situation and will be presented in court for an initial interrogation and the application of coercive measures.

A SATA airline aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing at Figo Maduro airport in Lisbon following a bomb threat. Passengers were evacuated from the aircraft.
