Arrested after injuring a woman with a stone in Lisbon and attempting to do the same to PSP officers.

A 24-year-old woman was arrested in the Areeiro parish of Lisbon on suspicions of committing physical assault, the Public Security Police (PSP) disclosed in a statement sent on Friday, July 25, to Notícias ao Minuto.

The crime occurred on the night of July 19 on a public street, as reported by the PSP. The police were summoned to the scene due to reports of a woman being assaulted and lying unconscious on the ground.

Upon arrival, officers discovered citizens detaining the suspect, who, according to investigations, displayed “hostile behavior” and even assaulted someone.

Witnesses informed officers that the woman’s behavior stemmed from noise generated by a group of friends socializing nearby.

The woman reportedly asked them to lower the music volume, but they declined, prompting a disturbance.

The suspect then threw a cobblestone at one of the young women from the group who had refused the request, striking her in the “occipital area,” or the back of the head.

Even in the presence of police, the aggressor maintained her “hostile and aggressive behavior,” necessitating police intervention to “restore public order.”

Despite this, her “erratic” behavior persisted toward the officers. She not only resisted police actions but also attempted to “throw another stone at them, which she picked up from the street.”

Consequently, she was arrested and charged. After being subjected to the precautionary measure of identity and residence, she was released and notified to appear at the Local Criminal Instance of Lisbon – Small Crime Section, at the Justice Campus.
