
The GNR of Castelo Branco has reported that a special criminal prevention operation conducted between July 11 and July 25 resulted in the arrest of 29 men and three women, aged between 22 and 48. This operation coincided with the Boom Festival, which took place from July 17 to 24 in Idanha-a-Nova.
The operation aimed to ensure public order and tranquility, prevent crime, manage traffic flow, and protect people and property amidst the presence of thousands of international visitors. As a result, the officers conducted various control activities, leading to the detention of 32 individuals for various offenses.
During the police operation, authorities seized a total of 16,877 doses of narcotics, which included 6,327.24 doses of hashish, 5,764.56 doses of cannabis, 2,860.3 doses of MDMA, 832.85 doses of cocaine, 15.5 doses of heroin, 2,328.21 grams of mushrooms, 640 grams of LSD gummies, 340.34 grams of amphetamines, 312.79 grams of ketamine, and 165.81 grams of ketamine.
Further seized items included 1.86 grams of cannabis crumble, 167 doses of the drug 2C-B, 117 ecstasy pills, 24 units of liquid LSD, 30 hallucinogenic capsules, 805 LSD tabs, 207 bottles of cannabis oil, and a bottle of cannabis seeds.
The GNR reported that during this operation, 65 infringement notices were issued for drug use, 207 for traffic offenses, alongside the confiscation of 354 cigarette packs, 350 bottles, 273 plastic sachets, 110 vaporizers, 11 precision scales, an extendable baton, brass knuckles, a vehicle, 50,655 euros in cash, 2,460 Czech Republic monetary units, 680 dollars, and 510 Peruvian Nuevo Sol units.
The operation involved a total of 1,943 military personnel from various GNR operational units and was conducted with the cooperation of external entities, including Spain’s Guardia Civil and EU Protective Security Advisors, as part of cross-border police cooperation and operational information sharing.
