All municipalities in the districts of Bragança and Guarda, most of Castelo Branco, and areas in Coimbra, Santarém, and Portalegre, in northern and central mainland Portugal, are at maximum fire risk.
In the Faro district, the municipalities of Lagos, Portimão, Monchique, Silves, Loulé, São Brás de Alportel, and Tavira are under maximum fire risk.
Throughout mainland Portugal, only the municipality of Esposende (Braga) shows no fire risk.
The IPMA predicts that the rural fire danger will remain high in these northern and central interior regions and in the Algarve in the coming days.
This danger, assessed by the IPMA, is based on a scale of five levels, ranging from reduced to maximum. The calculations derive from air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, and precipitation levels over the past 24 hours.
For today, the IPMA forecasts generally or partly cloudy skies throughout the mainland, with stronger winds along the coastal strip and the highlands, especially in the afternoon.
Except for Lisbon, Leiria, and Aveiro, mainland Portugal is under a yellow warning. In the archipelagos, most of Madeira and Porto Santo islands are also under a yellow warning.
