
At 6:00 PM Lisbon time, the euro traded at 1.16 dollars, down from 1.1730 dollars at the same time on Friday.
The euro also declined against the pound and the yen.
The European Central Bank (ECB) set the euro’s reference exchange rate at 1.1654 dollars.
A commercial agreement between the EU and the United States, reached on Sunday, sets U.S. tariffs on European products at 15%.
The agreement also includes the EU’s commitment to purchase $750 billion (about 642 billion euros) worth of U.S. energy—aiming specifically to replace Russian gas—an additional investment of $600 billion (514 billion euros), and an increase in military equipment acquisitions.
The U.S. and EU countries exchange approximately 4.4 billion euros in goods and services daily.
