Drug dealer caught with 4.15 g/l of alcohol after incident with PSP

A 26-year-old man was arrested last Friday, July 25, on suspicion of drug trafficking, disobedience, and unlicensed driving in Odivelas, following an incident with the Public Security Police (PSP).

In a statement released to the press on Monday, the Lisbon Metropolitan Command reported that a “vehicle, owned by the detainee, was traveling in the same lane as the police vehicle” and nearly caused a “head-on collision.” For this reason, the suspect was “ordered to stop.”

However, after “being subjected to and testing positive in a qualitative alcohol test with a level of 4.15 g/l,” the man “refused to take the quantitative test,” deliberately interrupting the breath, clearly intending to avoid the test.

It is prohibited to drive with a blood alcohol level equal to or greater than 0.5 g/l. If the blood alcohol level is equal to or greater than 1.2 g/l, it is considered a crime and punishable by up to a year in prison.

During the initial confrontation with PSP officers, the suspect dropped 94.2 individual doses of hashish.

During a search of his residence, authorities found a board with traces of a suspected drug substance, a kitchen knife, an electronic precision scale, 33 airtight bags, 38.44 individual doses of hashish, a dryer typically used to aid in cutting the drug, 2.05 individual doses of cocaine, and a pocket knife.

The detainee was brought to a first hearing at the Loures Court and was subject to the coercive measure of identity and residence terms.
