The Novo Banco has entered into a ‘Business Transfer Agreement’ with Unicre — Instituição Financeira de Crédito for the acquisition of Unicre’s consumer credit business, operated under the brand Unibanco, as announced in a statement.
This transaction encompasses the productive consumer credit portfolio, including credit cards, credit consolidation, and personal loans, with a net value of approximately 262 million euros, alongside the Unibanco brand and other assets and liabilities of the consumer credit business unit.
The completion of this transaction, expected in the first quarter of 2026, will increase Novo Banco’s consumer credit portfolio by around 15%.
Unicre is a Portuguese financial institution, owning brands such as REDUNIQ and UNIBANCO.
