A 34-year-old man was the victim of a beheading, as announced by the investigation police in a statement.
The detained suspect voluntarily presented himself at a Lisbon hospital on Thursday, bringing with him a human head, which he claimed he wanted to hand over. Evidence collected by the police indicates that the head belongs to the body discovered.
The police detailed today that after notification by the Public Security Police (PSP), the suspect was subjected to several evidentiary procedures that implied his involvement as the perpetrator of the crime.
Objects of evidentiary interest were seized, including the knife believed to have been used in the crime.
Additionally, elements were collected that suggest the human head belongs to the victim.
The police stated that the crimes are believed to stem from personal motives, despite the acquaintanceship between the individuals being established shortly before the occurrence.
No evidence connecting the crime to drug trafficking or consumption was found, the police concluded.
Without specifying the day, the suspect is expected to appear for an initial judicial interrogation.
The decapitated body of a man was discovered in the early hours of Wednesday behind Lisbon’s Coliseum.
